Traffic, Theatre and Other Such Things

So finally after recovering from the worst flu I think I have ever encountered, I was straight back in the rehearsal room, pulling out the 70’s disco moves and getting down with the cast of Jackie the Musical. There’s still time to book your tickets to make sure you don’t miss out!

I just have to take a moment to have little moan about London traffic and what a nightmare it was missing the launch of the new W channel thanks to being stuck in it… but thankfully I at least made it to the sold out incredible Pina Bausch at Sadlers Wells It truly was so epic and breathtaking it made me want to cry.

I’d love it if you would join me supporting @BCCare & look out for my signed @linzishoes in the @BCCare fashion show auction #linzicares

I had so much fun at the Whats on Stage Awards, with Alana as my date, making me look as glam as she always does, and working the red carpet with my trusty and gorgeous Aspinal of London handbag in tow. It was lovely catching up with my darling George Shelley and the divine Alison Jier, who sung the roof off as usual. And just generally being surrounded by theatre talent old and new is always so inspiring. FullSizeRender

I’ll be busy with Jackie technical rehearsals and run throughs leading up to opening night for the next couple of weeks, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be checking in and updating you with how it’s all going, and adding a few of my new beauty discoveries I’ve been dying to share with you as well so make sure you check in!

Whether you’re out and about or snuggled on the sofa, have a fabulous Sunday!

Read Away

Finally, I am back in the land of the living! That honestly was one of the worst times I can remember ever being that poorly, and although I still have the cough from hell, I’m back on my feet, back in rehearsals and back on the blog!

I have to admit though there’s not much to report thanks to being bed bound this past couple of weeks, but as always there’s so much hot gossip on the go here’s a little of what’s been going on around me!

You may remember I mentioned I’m working on a piece with Candoco, that I found the most fabulous little mention on, it really has been quite something creating this.

Candoco Evening Standard

I’m so in love with this gorgeous fashion feature I shot with my Alana for Good Housekeeping magazine, all about getting each other out of our clothing comfort zones and into something the other would like to see us in, and have to say I was thrilled with my new look Alana chose for me! I’d never normally wear such bright colours, pointed shoes or skinny trousers, but somehow the look was so flattering, and I was genuinely surprised at how good I felt. I think Alana was also pleasantly surprised at being put in something a bit more girly, no black skinny jeans allowed for her! The whole day was so much fun, and as always with Alana dong my makeup it made me feel even more confident, and I was really proud of the results.

I also have to give a mention to my actual makeup on the day that Alana was using from Studio 10, thanks to their gorgeous  Miracle Effect Priming Serum my makeup stayed put all day, something that rarely happens believe me! You can check out the rest of the range here, it really is up there with the best for all ages, no matter what your skin type.

Finally, I’ll leave you with an article about my father, and the new campaign I am involved in for Alzheimers, its one of the hardest things for me to talk about, and yet one of the most important and meaningful things I can do, so all your support means the world to me, thank you.

Hoping you all stay happy and healthy, and I’ll be back next week with more from the Jackie rehearsal room…

I’m Still Standing… Just…

Oh my goodness, I am writing this from my sick bed! Yes despite a jab, and several strict warnings from the family to take it easy post op… I am suffering with the worst flu. Poor me… I’ll tell you what though, I’ve had a great time the past couple of weeks so it was certainly worth it!

I had a fabulous time dancing along the blue carpet at the opening night of Amaluna, the new Cirque du Soleil spectacular at the Royal Albert Hall. Surrounded by friends and family, the annual Cirque outing is always such a perfect start to the year, and a great opportunity to catch up with everyone after the Christmas and New Year period, while watching some of the most breathtaking and beautiful acts in the world.

I had a wonderful time at the National Dance Awards, talking, living and breathing all things dance alongside some of my favourite performers in the industry – or the world for that matter, and got to chat up close and personal with my current new obsession Cesar Corrales from the ENB, who literally blew me away with his performance as Ali in Le Corsaire earlier in the year. As well it always being a treat to chat to ENB’s artistic director and friend Tamara Rojo, who also was breathtaking to watch in the production. I love being a part of the future of dance, and being surrounded by such talent is always so inspiring.

Speaking of dance, I’ve been having such fun creating a new piece for Candoco, a disabled and non disabled contemporary dance company, that I can’t wait for you all to see!

I’ve also been knee deep in rehearsals (get it!) for Jackie, my new musical, which has certainly been keeping me busy, and while my head is buzzing with inspiration, my body seems to be buzzing a bit less quickly so am taking a couple of days to rest up, but believe me it’s the body only! If only my brain would like to take a break, but when I get an idea for something as exciting the ideas just keep coming!

I hope you are all staying happy and healthy, meanwhile I’m here, blogging from my bed, and also learning to master the wonders of Instagram so make sure to have a look on @arlenephillipsofficial for some fun posts!

I’ll be back fighting fit with more hot gossip for you soon…
