This post is all about my night at the Roundhouse, and the incredible Utopia project I was so proud to be a part of. The theme was money, and what does it really mean to you? As someone who truly came from not a penny, to being fortunate enough to live comfortably and take care of my family, it has been interesting to me seeing the people around me and their relationships with money, what difference in what they need to what they want, the difference in the haves and the have nots, what makes people happy, and more importantly the fragility of happiness through money and how it can change and affect ones life so greatly. I wanted to show through dance, using the brilliant Tommy Franzen, Zoonation Youth Dance, and the Circus Collective as well as an extraordinary group of Ballroom dancers, to demonstrate just how far people are willing to go in their pursuit of money, and the happiness it appears to bring. But, as we all know, things aren’t always what they seem…

Hello again all!
And “Ahoy there!” I’m back from my travels, back on land, and back into the busy whirlwind of life as I know it.
I had an amazing week aboard the bustling Britannia with P&O cruises and Strictly Come Dancing. That’s right, I put the sequins back on for an amazing few days alongside Strictly pro’s Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec, and Karen and Kevin Clifton, where all manner of dancing, talking and drinking the night away took place. Of course I had my darling Alana with me to keep me looking glamorous at all times, and plus it’s always more fun with her there anyway! There was a Q&A, performances, a fashion show of all the beautiful DSI dresses from the Strictly shows, and even a passenger competition. We sailed through Spain and Portugal, all the way to the Canary Islands, and managed to take a tour round the beautiful city of Cadiz, where we stumbled upon the most phenomenal flamenco dancer performing outside the Cathedral that genuinely moved us all to tears with her beauty and passion. A fabulous lunch of paella and sangria along one of the city’s cobbled streets, not to mention the never-ending list of restaurants aboard the ship it was of course another indulgent few days, plus I discovered such thing as the wondrous creme brûlée cocktail, I pretty much rolled off the plane and back into my bed! I managed to grab a few hours R&R in the sun where I got to read my dear friend Matt Cain’s fabulous new book, Nothing But Trouble, that had me in stitches from start to finish. I also got to watch the incredible 4Tunes performing on board, of which I am proud to say I have worked with all of the boys in various shows of mine, and they were truly a delight to see. I really loved stepping back into the judges chair, and here are some pictures of our adventures over the week that I hope you enjoy as much as I did.
But of course there’s no rest of the wicked as they say, and it was straight back to work and straight back to, er, cake tasting on Bake Off Extra Slice, which if you missed you can catch up on here! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0656qq3/the-great-british-bake-off-an-extra-slice-series-2-episode-1
So I’ll be back as soon as is humanly possible I promise, I fear my globe trotting antics are causing a delay in keeping up with everything, but please keep checking back for more posts coming soon, and you can always keep up with the day to day on my Twitter here https://twitter.com/arlenephillips
Until next time…
Love Arlene x
